ABOUT THE EVENT /
Building on the founding principles of ImmersED 2018, to lead the modernization of immersive technology into K-12 classrooms, the 10|10 Initiative's objective is to place VR & AR in the hands of educators, providing 10,000 students and teachers with 10,000 virtual & augmented reality experiences in 10 months. The 10|10 Initiative exposes teachers and students to newer technologies and the innovations of the virtual worlds through hands on exploration and experiential learning.

The ImmersED Summer Institute: K-12 Virtual Reality Learning Institute 10|10 Initiative is a *funded year-long, professional development opportunity for U.S. middle and high school teachers to become leaders in the modernization of technology in K-12 classrooms. Starting with the 2018-19 ImmersED Fellowship recipients, teachers will be given the tools and technology to make virtual learning a reality.

ImmersED Activities

4-Day Institute: ImmersED Fellows gather for a 4-Day summit designed to identify challenges, create opportunities, promote collaborations, and build partnerships to bring virtual realities into K-12 classrooms.

Fieldwork The 10|10 Initiative: Introducing teachers and students to newer technologies and the innovations of the virtual worlds through hands on exploration and experiential learning via cross-curricular activities, schoolwide assemblies, faculty professional developments, etc.

Research: ImmersED Fellows identify and demonstrate best-practices for VR in the classroom while gaining student feedback.

Online Symposium: ImmersED Fellows gather via online, to build networks, collaborate, and develop strategies to enhance the use of VR in the classroom.

Capstone: ImmersED Fellows contribute to a VR Education Guide that serves as a resource for their local community to build awareness and understanding for best-practices in K-12 classrooms.

Alumni: ImmersED alumni may apply for additional grants (providing funding is available).

Education coursework: ImmersED Fellows may apply for ETU’s (approval still tentative).

ImmersED Goals
ImmersED Fellows become VR4Good ambassadors for their students, classrooms, and schools, and to fellow educators at-large through:

Collaborations, and partnerships with leading VR developers and educational K-12 institution;

Exposing of newer technologies and the innovations of the virtual worlds to K-12 classrooms;
-
Hands on exploration, experiential learning, providing educational resources, creating collaborative environments, and opportunity;
-
Successful engagement in professional development that teachers can utilize in their classrooms as a catalyst for deeper learning;
-
Field experience and curriculum instruction focused on technology integration.
